About Me

My name's Jonathan Finn, and I'm a Senior at Mississippi State, majoring in Computer Science. I've been interested in computers for as long as I can remember, but my interest exploded when I joined my high school robotics team. Since then, I've dived into programming, trying to get as much experience as possible. When I'm not programming, I'm probably rock climbing. From my experience as an Eagle Scout, I love to embrace the outdoors, climbing and camping when I can get away from school.

Cyber Security Intern • July 2021 - Present

Given the opportunity to work here over the summer, I was given limited direction in what tasks needed to be accomplished. Thus, in my free time, I decided to work on automating their Excel spreadsheets to cut down on repetitive reporting tasks. After showing my manager what I had accomplished at the end of my summer internship, he was very impressed with the automation, and asked me to stay on part time through school to assist in automating more reporting tasks.

Trustmark Bank

Co-op Associate • January 2020 - July 2021

Taking two semesters of from school, I worked with Trustmark bank for a total of one year. In my time, I learned extensively about the Microsoft platform of tools, including Sharepoint, PowerApps, and many more. In my first semester, I was put in charge of creating an employee community service tracking application, which I worked on until the end of my first session. Afterwards, I was asked to return for a second semester, where I was put in charge of creating an employee interview application. While I was never able to see either application enter production, both were completed and beginning the testing phase as I left.

Mississippi State University

B.A. Degree in Computer Science • December 2022

I began attending MSU as a computer science major in 2018 after graduating from Collierville High School. Over the course of three and a half years (plus one year off for work), I have learned a lot of information about the myriad computer science disciplines, and have gotten the opportunity to work on many projects, using tools such as Python, C/C++, SQL, and more.

Skills

Throughout the course of my many projects (school related, work related, and personal), I have learned many languages to varying degrees. While my current skills and knowledge is presented below, I am always looking to learn more and expand on my current knowledge.
